Classic papercasting: Letter home from the Gulf, December 1987
I recently found a letter I had written my parents just after Christmas of 1987, while serving in the Navy in the Gulf of Oman. In the absence of any recent posts, I thought I’d put this here…it’s been a long time since I’ve had the time to write a 7 page letter.

Welcome back, Packetrat! We kept the light on for ya. There’s been a lot going on in the world of type- and papercasting since we last heard from ya. There’s a whole lot of new blogs out there. I finally caved and I’m in the process of moving Sotto Voce over to WordPress (note the new link).
You were on the Iowa? That’s so very, very cool. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be on a BB on the high seas.
You coming to Baltimore Book Fest this year? I’ll be at the Maryland Writers’ Association tent both days. Stop by if you’re around. If there’s wireless I plan on live-blogging the event.
